CHORNOBYL TOUR was co-founded in 2008 by two people – a TV journalist Yaroslav Yemelianenko and Sergii Mirnyi – a radiation surveillance officer, an active participant in the accident mitigation in the Zone in 1986, and a well-known expert in Chornobyl accident as well as other radiation environmental catastrophes. Together they have created a company which grew from a small business into a big and highly qualified company that has its own scientific and informational departments, develops new routes through the Exclusion zone and Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, initiated and still works on the recognition of the Chornobyl Exclusion zone as a UNESCO Heritage Site.

We have opened the first Chornobyl University with the official governmental study course for Bachelors and Masters, a school for Chornobyl guides, created several professional associations for the tour operators, guides and tourism professionals, take part in the biggest world travel markets (Berlin, London, New-York, Singapore, etc.), welcome tourists from all over the world and work hard every day to improve ourselves.

CHORNOBYL TOUR is a licensed tour operator, an official partner of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management, and has the authorization to operate in the Chornobyl zone.

For more than 12 years we’ve been working on the mitigation of the informational and psychological consequences of the Chornobyl accident and revitalization of the area. We believe that the story of the Chornobyl accident needs to be told and this lesson has to be learned. When we visit the Exclusion zone we acknowledge all of the people who sacrificed their health and sometimes even life for this world to be a safer place. It’s our moral duty to educate all generations, current and those to come, about the huge victory of all these men over the invisible enemy of radiation.
