World’s coolest helicopter ride: take an adventure in the sky
- Safety first: experienced, skilled and safe pilots.
- For travelers who appreciate dynamical and comfortable tours.
- Tailored for you and free from crowds.
- Aerial photography and videography will take your memories to the next level. This tour will give you the best view, as helicopters can fly low enough to see everything.
- Air tours are the only tours that allow people under 18 years to see the Zone. It’s the best choice for the keen young explorers in your family!
On a chopper flight your breath will be taken away not only by its vast natural sights. During the flight you will see the town of Slavutych, abandoned villages, herds of wild animals in reserved area – Przewalski's horses, wild boars, and if you're lucky enough – even moose!
You’ll soar over the world’s tallest antennas of the top-secret Soviet radar station Duga-1. Take a look at the ghost town of Prypiat, the cooling pond (where the legendary radioactive catfish swim), the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and the town of Chornobyl. This 1.5 hour joyride may be the most thrilling part of your vacation and the story you can’t stop sharing.
For a closer look and exploration of the Zone please book a 1-day tour, a multi-day tour or a private tour.
IT IS SAFE
In a 1.5 hour Air Tour to the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone a person receives a total radiation dose that is:
- identical to the same amount of time spent in Kyiv: the helicopter does not land in the Zone
- more than 160 times less than from one chest X-ray exam
- more than 3600 times less than full body CT scan
Still curious? Book a personal Geiger Counter for the trip! It shows the radiation intensity during your trip and the exact dose at the end of the tour.
Route
We will fly over the famous sites of the Zone:
the village of Zalissia with abandoned households, shops and other buildings, one of about hundred Ukrainian settlements that were fully evacuated after the accident;
the town of Chornobyl – the local administrative center and the rotational settlement for the employees of the Exclusion Zone with operating facilities, laboratories, dormitories, canteens, shops and even several hotels. This is the place where we stay overnight with our tourists in multi-day tours;
the radar Duga-1, well-known as “Russian Woodpecker” and “Hidden Eye of Moscow” – the over-the-horizon radiolocation station that was spying on the USA from Chornobyl woods before the accident;
the village of Kopachi only 4 km away from the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The whole settlement was turned into a burial site because of contamination. Only a few buildings survived;
the Red Forest – a place of the first and worst radioactive fallout;
the ghost town of Prypiat – abandoned Soviet Paradise town, built especially for the ChNPP workers and fully evacuated after the accident;
the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant – sightseeing the decommissioned power plant and the damaged reactor 4, that is now double covered by the Old Sarcophagus (Object Shelter) and the Arch (New Safe Confinement) from all possible angles;
Feel free to find all these locations on the map of the Chornobyl Zone.
Please keep in mind that there can be some changes in the route due to weather conditions and/or restrictions from the Governmental institutions.
To get better acquaintance with the interesting locations please book a multi-day tour or a private tour.

What to take
Unlike the land-based Chornobyl tours, clothing guidelines are not required as you do not come in direct contact with the ground of the Zone. Nevertheless, we advise you to wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
To see the invisible – book a DOSIMETER
In order to fully understand and feel the most special matter of the Chornobyl zone – namely, radiation – we highly recommend you to rent the reliable personal Geiger Counter. Just click on the checkbox "Dosimeter" when you are ordering the tour.
"To go to the Chornobyl zone without a dosimeter is like going to the usual tour with your eyes blindfolded."
- Sergii Mirnyi, CHORNOBYL TOUR founder, a radiation reconnaissance officer.
The Geiger Counter will make “visible” the radiation level during the whole day, constantly informing you about the radiation background. At the end of the day it will show your exact irradiation dose for the whole trip.

People with a sensitive vestibular apparatus are not recommended to eat or drink 2 hours before the flight to avoid feeling sickness. Also provide yourself with travel sickness pills if needed.
