This is not just an exhibition, where the objects were brought to the museum building – it is a real strategic missile forces base “Taymen” – and now it is opened for visitors!

No age limit: this tour is available even for those, who are under 18 years old. What sounds like a creepy story nowadays, used to be an everyday reality during the period of the Cold War. With the help of this tour, you will be able to touch the history and get a deeper understanding of what was really going on behind the “iron curtain”. You will see with your own eyes the real objects, which were used to strike fear into the hearts of anyone contemplating a challenge to the Soviet regimen ( for example the gigantic missile nicknamed “Satan” – the most powerful missile, which all countries outside the Soviet Union feared the most). And though they are completely harmless now, you will be still impressed.
The tour is extremely educational and genuine: the retired soldiers will tell about the history of this particular nuclear base and the Soviet nuclear arms in general.
Would you like to get familiar with the soldiers’ everyday life and hear the real stories from those, who were on duty there? Can you guess for how long the soldiers were staying in complete isolation in the depths of nuclear silos? These and other possible questions will be answered during the tour! You will also visit the silo launcher where the missiles stood on duty, including the famous R-12 –the one that was placed in Cuba!
As it was a military object with restricted access, be prepared that the way will take a while. But despite the long way it is definitely worth it: this is a truly unique museum, with no existing analogies all over the European continent and post-soviet countries as well. When will you have another chance?

You will have a chance to sit at the control panel and even to “launch” the nuclear missiles by pressing a combination of keys. After launching the missile you’ll even hear the sound of the sirens – that’s right, the electronic equipment still works!
Schedule
Duration of the tour: leaving Kyiv at 8:00 a.m., arriving back at approximately 7:00 p.m.
Departure time: it is recommended to meet and depart earlier, as it takes at least 3-4 hours to drive to the museum. Usually, we meet from 7:30 to 7:50 a.m. and depart at 8:00 am. Nevertheless, as it is a private tour, we will be happy to depart whenever is more suitable for you. Just let us know your preferences!
We kindly ask you to be in time. In case of no-show on the day of the tour the trip deposit is not refundable.
Departure place: We pick you up at your hotel or any other place of your choice within the Kyiv city limits. Just let us know the address where you would like to be picked up!
Transportation: comfortable auto transportation with air conditioning Kyiv-Missile Forces Base-Kyiv. Alternatively, if you would prefer to go by your own car, please let us know – we will be happy to arrange it!
Arrival time: the strategic Missile Forces Base is located about 250 km away from Kyiv; so we arrive around 11:30 a.m.
Lunch: approximately at 3:00 p.m. we will eat at a local café on the territory of the museum. The basic lunch is included in the cost of the trip. In case you would like to order something extra at your own cost, you will have the opportunity to do that in the cafe.
Departure from the museum: we depart to Kyiv at approximately 4:00 p.m.
Arrival back in Kyiv: we arrive back at approximately 7:00-8:00 p.m.
What to take
To make sure your trip is comfortable and enjoyable, we advise you to:
- have some sandwiches and bottled water with you to have a bite on the way
- have comfortable shoes and clothes, as we are going to walk for a while during the excursion
- check the weather forecast: be prepared for rain, low temperatures or hot weather depending on the season and ensure you have dressed accordingly for the part of the exposition, which is located outside
- it is always a good idea to have your personal first aid kit or any other personal belongings you might need (chargers, paper tissues, etc.)

Legal issues
No weapons (even with a legal permit) are allowed within the territory of the museum.
Visitors under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not allowed to visit the site.
Attention! The part of the tour with going down the underground silos is not recommended for people suffering from claustrophobia.
Age limit
Great news: this tour has no age limit and allows people under 18 years old to see the Strategic Missile Forces Base!
You can take this tour with children as well. Children seem to be curious about science and stories, and while the dry facts from the school history manuals might be forgotten easily, the personal vivid memories and impressions last.
