This city was once the capital of the Kyivan Rus. This place is older than most of neighboring countries. This city is full of legends and even famous for its’ witches. It has survived World War II and has seen many revolutions. It has become a home for many famous writers and artists. This city has UNESCO world heritage sites: just look at Byzantine frescoes and mosaics – you do not need an architectural background to admire the churches and monasteries of Kyiv!
You will be captivated by this city, which is full of life, energy, movement, and keeps growing each year. Various restaurants and cafes, bars, exhibitions, shopping malls, sports… Kyiv has it all: intense business and cultural life, and of course – great local cuisine. This city has something to offer every visitor who comes along.

Route
Exploring the city, accompanied by a personal guide, means you will get the story behind every object you see, and explore the hidden, less known places. Our tour is tailored for you, ensuring that you can discover the city at your own pace, without any rush.
The approximate tour route is as follows:
- the Shevchenko National University, which was founded almost 200 years ago by the Russian Tsar;
- Opera House; you should see how beautiful it is!
- Golden Gate – an ancient entrance to the Kyiv old town, which is said to be named after the Golden Gate of Constantinople;
- Saint Sophia's Cathedral – the UNESCO World Heritage Site with its Byzantine frescoes and mosaics;
- a place “from where the Rus began” – where Prince Volodymyr has baptized the Kyivan Rus in year 988!
- Andriyivskyy Descent – it is often referred to as “Kyiv Montmartre”, since it’s a place where amateur and professional theatres are located, painters work open-air, street musicians animate the creative atmosphere, the best souvenirs are presented and the most delicious chocolate and confectionary attract locals;
- St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery;
- Independence Square – a place of revolutions, demonstrations and national festivities. It is the true heart of the young country;
- Khreschatyk Street – the main and widest street of the city;
- Governmental quarter with the President Administration and Parliament Facilities;
- We can have lunch at a local cafe (please note, any personal expenses, including cafe/restaurant during the tour are not included in the tour price)
- Memorial to the Victims of Holodomor in Ukraine and WWII veterans;
- Kyivan Cave Monastery (optional).
The route can be adjusted due to the weather conditions or upon your request.

Schedule
Duration of the tour: approximately 6 hours: we usually start the tour at 10.00 a.m., and finish it around 4 p.m.
Departure time: we recommend meeting in the first half of the day, at 10:00 or 11:00 a.m.
Please, contact us and we will be happy to arrange the tour for you at the most convenient day and time possible.
We kindly ask you to be on time. In case of no-show on the day of the tour the trip deposit would not be refundable.
Departure place: the standard meeting place is at the main square of the city – Maidan Nezalezhnosti.
In case you’d like to simplify your way to the meeting point by ordering a pick-up service – we would be glad to arrange it for you! Just tell us the place you’re staying at (e.g. the name and the address of your hotel in Kyiv).
Transportation: If needed, we can use either public transport, or taxi to move between locations. Please note, that the transportation expenses are not included in the tour price.
The final destination: the tour finishes near the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra or the Motherland Monument.
What to take
To ensure your trip is comfortable, we advise you to:
- have comfortable shoes and clothes, as we are going to walk quite a bit during the day
- check the weather forecast: be prepared for rain, low temperatures or hot weather depending on the season and ensure you have dressed accordingly for the walks outside
- For ladies scarfs/caps (something to cover the head) would be needed, if entering a church
Limitations
Legal issues
No weapons (even with a legal permit) are allowed to be taken with you on a tour.
Visitors under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not allowed to participate in the tour.
Our guests shall not fail to comply with the guide's instructions regarding safety rules. In the case of the occurrence of such a situation, the tour ends immediately. In case of the tour cancellation on the spot (i.e., on the day of the tour, prior meeting your guide or once already met the guide) no refund is made.
Age limit
Great news: this tour has no age limit and allows people under 18 years old to explore the secrets of Kyiv.
