Route
the village of Sukholuchchia – the boat’s mooring site, start of the river trip by boat;
the village of Strakholissia – the water checkpoint for entering the Exclusion Zone at 30km distance from the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant;
the river of Prypiat and other waterways of the Chornobyl Radiation Biosphere Reserve:
2-hour boat trip up the river of Prypiat in the morning;
1-hour boat trip down the river of Prypiat in the evening;
- enjoying picturesque landscapes of the Biosphere Reserve and panoramic view of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant;
- discovering the river bends and artificial channels, that had been cut by liquidators during the clean-up process after the nuclear accident in 1986;
- observing the riverside of the evacuated villages of Otashiv, Opachychy, Leliv; sailing through the town of Chornobyl:
- observing the town’s riverside and the graveyard of the sunken contaminated ships;
- sailing along the dried out cooling pond;
- stopping at the Onshore Pumping Station that used to pump the water from the river of Prypiat to the cooling pond;

Schedule
This is a private tour, so we will be happy to adjust the schedule and route according to your preferences. In case you would like to depart from Kyiv later, we will be glad to arrange it; however, please note that we do not offer hourly-based prices so the cost of the excursion is not affected by any adjustments you would like to implement.
7:30-7:50 – meeting in Kyiv
Please remember to take your PASSPORT. Your guide will be waiting for you near the bus with a radiation sign under the windshield.
! Please, be on time. In case of no-show, the trip prepayment (25%) is not refundable.
8:00 a.m. – departure from Kyiv by bus (comfortable seats, air conditioning, variety of video materials on board).
During the drive you will: review the detailed itinerary of the trip receive physical and radiation safety instructions from your guide watch a documentary about Chornobyl nuclear accident
9:30 a.m. – arrival at the village of Sukholuchchia, the boat’s mooring site. passport control transfer to a modern comfortable boat with a good vantage point on board safety instructions from the ship’s captain
10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. – boat trip up the river of Prypiat through the Chornobyl Radiation Biosphere Reserve: entering the Exclusion Zone by boat through the water gateway in the village of Strakholissia; sail through the evacuated villages of Otashiv, Opachychy, Leliv; sail through the town of Chornobyl, observing the town’s riverside and the graveyard of the sunken contaminated ships; sail along the dried out cooling pond to the Onshore Pumping Station.
12:00 p.m. – transfer to a comfortable tourist bus
12:00-13:00 p.m. – the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant
spectacular panoramic view of the dried out cooling pond and the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant at a 3 km distance; sightseeing drive around the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant; stop at the observation point only 250 m away from the damaged reactor 4, that is now double covered by the Old Sarcophagus (Object Shelter) and the Arch (New Safe Confinement); the memorial "Life for Life” in front of the administrative building of the ChNPP; feeding giant catfish in the ChNPP cooling channel (in warm season).
13:00-14:00 p.m. – lunch
We will visit the local canteen #19, that’s serving the ChNPP employees and visitors. You will have a traditional Ukrainian meal made of ecologically clean products. If you are a vegetarian, please inform CHORNOBYL TOUR manager about your preferences when booking the trip.
14:00-15:30 p.m. – sightseeing tour in Prypiat town
More than 1-hour of walk through the abandoned Soviet Paradise town built especially for the ChNPP workers and fully evacuated after the accident. Exploration of the most famous places in Prypiat including the Amusement Park with the Ferris Wheel that was never launched because of the accident, the Polissia Hotel, the Town Hall, the Palace of Culture Energetic, the central square, the main stadium and other iconic locations. 16:00 p.m. – transfer back to the boat
16:00-17:30 p.m. – leaving the Exclusion Zone by boat
Going down the river of Prypiat through the Chornobyl Radiation Biosphere Natural Reserve and transfer to a comfortable bus.
17:30-19:30 p.m. – arrival back in Kyiv
Attention! In case of drastic changes in the weather conditions or upon the request of the state authorities, the start of the private river tour can be postponed or the tour can be rescheduled to another date.
What to take
Must have in the Zone:
PASSPORT (not ID) – it should be the one that you specified in the application for the trip! It is impossible to enter the Zone without a passport.
* CHORNOBYL TOUR shall not be liable for your failure to enter the Exclusion zone because of the wrong passport number / name / date of birth / nationality or wrong passport on the day of the trip.
CLOSED SHOES – boots or sneakers, which fully cover your feet without fancy openings, please.
CLOSED CLOTHES – trousers (no shorts, no knee-breeches, no skirts) and a jacket or a shirt with long sleeves. Your clothes should fully cover your legs and arms without fancy openings, please.
! It is PROHIBITED to wear any open type clothing and footwear in the Zone.
To make your trip comfortable and enjoyable, we advise you to have:
- windproof outer suit, a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen are highly recommended for the river trip.
- comfortable shoes and clothes to move on board a boat and for 1-hour walk in Prypiat
- have a mosquito repellent
- some sandwiches and bottled water to have a bite on the way
- check the weather forecast and be prepared for rain or shine – dress warmly for cool weather,
- have waterproof shoes and spare socks for rain or dew on the grass, a hat for hot weather

Limitations
Legal issues
No weapons (even with a legal permit) are allowed within the territory of the Exclusion zone. Visitors under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not allowed to visit the site.
Age limit
According to Ukrainian law every visitor of the Exclusion zone should be over the age of 18. No underage visitors will be admitted under any circumstances. Notarized parental consent or even their personal presence in the trip do not change this rule.
